What microcement actually is.

Microcement is a cement-based coating reinforced with polymers and pigments, applied in thin successive layers and finished with a protective sealer. The result is a hard, continuous surface — visually similar to polished concrete or tadelakt — that flows seamlessly without joints, grout lines or expansion gaps.

Because the coating is only a few millimetres thick, microcement can be laid directly on top of most existing surfaces: ceramic tile, terrazzo, concrete, plaster, plasterboard and even wood. That makes it the standout choice for renovations where ripping up the original floor isn't practical — heritage townhouses, hillside villas, busy apartments.

We apply it everywhere.

Microcement kitchen-to-living-room transition — Costa del Sol villa

Most clients come to us thinking of a microcement floor, but the same material is just as suited to walls, bathroom enclosures, shower trays, kitchen splashbacks, fireplaces, integrated washbasins and even bespoke furniture. Designed coherently, a microcement house feels calmer than one chopped up by skirting boards, tile joints and material transitions.

  • Floors — kitchens, living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and indoor-outdoor transitions.
  • Bathrooms — walls, floors, shower trays and walk-in showers, all in one continuous surface.
  • Kitchens — splashbacks, islands and integrated worktops.
  • Furniture — bespoke vanities, benches, fireplaces and feature walls.
  • Outdoor terraces — using a UV-stable exterior system.

Hand-trowelled fine-grain microcement wall — Marbella designer finish

We work with two main families: a fine-grain decorative system for walls and furniture, and a coarser, more durable floor system. Within each, you can choose matte, satin or gloss — and almost any colour. On the site visit we walk you through how each finish wears in your particular light and traffic.

How it lasts.

A correctly installed and properly sealed microcement floor is a long-term surface. It resists daily traffic, moderate impact, sun and water. Like any natural-finish material, it benefits from periodic resealing — we recommend revisiting the sealer every 5–7 years on heavily used surfaces — and we'll show you how to clean it in 30 seconds (warm water and a pH-neutral soap).

Where we install microcement on the Costa del Sol.

We install microcement across the entire coast. Popular areas include microcement in Marbella, Puerto Banús, Estepona, Sotogrande, Málaga and Benahavís. Bathrooms in Marbella villas are our most-requested project — we deliver them in 4–6 working days with no demolition.

Bathroom renovation · no demolition

A complete bathroom in 4–6 days, from €1,200.

We renovate complete bathrooms in microcement — straight over the existing tiles. Floor, walls and shower tray turn into one continuous, waterproof surface. You keep your plumbing, you keep your door heights, you keep your sanity. No skip, no dust, no demolition.

A traditional bathroom renovation means demolition, dust, a skip on the street, a week of plaster mess, and a bill for the demolition alone before any new finish is even chosen. Microcement removes all of that. The existing tiles stay where they are. We mesh-reinforce the surface, apply three coats of microcement by hand, sand to a velvet finish, and seal with two coats of polyurethane.

The result is one continuous, jointless, fully waterproof bathroom. No grout lines to discolour, no tile edges to chip, no transitions between floor and shower tray. Easier to clean. Easier to live with. For Costa del Sol owners — especially holiday homes where the bathroom is empty between visits — microcement is a particularly clean fit: salt-air resistant, no cracking under summer-winter thermal swings, and a finish that ages with the property rather than dating it.

Frequently asked

The questions every client asks us.

Can microcement really be applied over my existing tiles?

Yes, in the vast majority of projects. The tile has to be well-bonded — we tap-test it on the site visit. If a few tiles are loose, we repair them first. If most of them are loose (rare), we'd recommend a different approach and tell you honestly.

Will it crack?

Not when prepared correctly. Cracking happens when the substrate moves and there's no reinforcement. We mesh-reinforce every project we install, and we use a flexible polyurethane sealer that absorbs minor movement. Our written guarantee covers cracking.

Is it really waterproof in the shower?

Yes. The microcement itself is breathable, but the two-coat polyurethane sealer creates a continuous waterproof membrane. We've installed dozens of walk-in showers in microcement — none have leaked.

How do I clean it?

Warm water and a pH-neutral soap. Don't use anti-limescale or acidic products. We give you a one-page cleaning guide at hand-back.

Can I keep using my flat during the work?

Yes, if you have a second bathroom. We seal the work area with plastic sheeting and clean up at the end of every shift. If it's your only bathroom, we can usually compress the schedule so the shower is back online by day 4.
